What is Muay Thai Kick Boxing?

Muay Thai is a striking martial art from Thailand. It is often called the “Art of Eight Limbs” because training incorporates punches, kicks, knees and elbows, along with clinching techniques. But at Bujutsu, our classes are about much more than throwing combinations in a bag as our students work under trained instructors on technique, timing, fitness, coordination and control. Our Muay Thai sessions include warm-ups, technique drills, pad work, partner training and, for appropriate students, sparring. Don’t have any prior experience? No worries. Beginners and students of all ages and fitness levels are welcome…so you don't need to arrive already fit or experienced.

Muay Thai in Denham Court for kids

Bujutsu offers Kids Muay Thai Kick Boxing from age 3, with training designed around their age and ability. At this age, the focus isn't on turning children into little fighters; it's about training them in movement, listening, coordination, discipline, and teamwork. As children get older, their training can become more technical and physically challenging.

Older children from around 7 years onwards can progress to the broader Muay Thai Kick Boxing program, where training becomes more detailed, and students can develop practical self-defence and striking skills.

A serious workout, without the ego

Muay Thai is demanding, and you will sweat; your legs will work, and your lungs will notice, but good martial arts training isn't about proving who is toughest in the room. Especially at Bujutsu, students are taught proper technique and progression, with the training structured so that the fundamentals come first. Their Muay Thai program teaches students to defend the head, body, and legs before moving into more advanced attacking techniques, and this approach is especially important for beginners.

More than fitness

People often start Muay Thai training because they want to get fitter, lose weight, or try something different… and they often stay for other reasons. There is something satisfying about learning a combination that felt completely confusing a few weeks earlier and suddenly getting it right.

Your balance improves.

Your reactions sharpen.

You become more comfortable under pressure.

And confidence tends to follow.

For some students, Muay Thai is primarily about fitness, while for others, it is about self-defence or, eventually, competition. Our dojo caters to different goals and welcomes students of all experience levels.
