Kids Boxing — Confidence Through Discipline, Not Violence

At Bujutsu Martial Arts, our Kids Boxing programme is carefully structured for children aged 6 to 11. In this class, the instructors emphasise more than just how to throw punches and focus on stance, speed and timing. These structured classes are all about helping kids build strong character, discipline and self-belief in a place where they can train safely. Additionally, through our Bujutsu Bully Proof Program, kids gain confidence, learn to set boundaries and handle bullies calmly in any situation.
Classes are built around structured drills, fun pad work and positive coaching; as a result, kids develop balance, timing, and coordination while also learning life lessons in respect, resilience, and responsibility. The goal isn’t to create fighters, but to shape confident young leaders who know how to handle challenges with calm and courage. Children develop practical self-defence skills that help them stay safe and confident without encouraging aggression.
Like our other programs, every class builds emotional growth and physical skill. Our coaches train children to set boundaries, speak with confidence and carry themselves in a way that naturally discourages bullies.
At Bujutsu Martial Arts, boxing isn't about being aggressive. In order to give children the self-assurance to believe in themselves, the confidence to make wise decisions, and the strength to overcome obstacles both inside and outside of the dojo, we work to balance discipline with encouragement. Each class keeps kids active, involved, and proud of their abilities while enhancing their strength, balance, coordination and cardiovascular fitness. We encourage and teach life skills that last.

Benefits

Benefits of Kids Boxing

Confidence & Self-Belief

Confidence doesn’t appear overnight, it’s built. In our Boxing classes at Bujutsu, kids push through challenges and learn new moves, realising they are capable of more than they thought. That feeling sticks and it shows in the way they walk, speak up in class, or stay calm in tough situations, and a confident child is harder to knock down, both literally and emotionally.

Discipline & Respect

Every parent knows kids have energy to burn. A structured Kids Boxing class gives them an outlet but also teaches them when to hold back as they learn patience, respect and the difference between power and control. These lessons aren’t just for the dojo, they carry into friendships, the classroom and even the dinner table.

Practical Self-Defense

Parents want peace of mind and kids want to feel safe. Kids Boxing helps with both. We don’t teach aggression - we teach awareness as children learn how to read situations, trust their instincts and stay calm if things get heated. That confidence means they are less likely to be seen as easy targets.

Fitness & Fun

Boxing isn’t just about punches – it’s a workout that gets kids moving, sweating, and building stamina. Regular training strengthens their heart, improves coordination, and boosts overall fitness. Parents often notice their kids have more energy, better focus at school, and a healthier attitude towards staying active.

Child Safety First

Anti-Bullying and Child Safety Program

Bujutsu Martial Arts and Fitness Centre does have a formal anti bullying and child safety program that takes a holelistic approach to tackling the problem of bullying.
Our Karate for Toddlers, Kids Karate, Kids Muay Thai Kickboxing and Kids BJJ classes teach children the following:
What bullying is
The effects bullying has on people
It is okay to say no
To use the phrase stop I don't like it
To walk away
To tell a teacher
To tell your parents
To step in when they see a friend being bullied
We encourage parents to talk to their children about what bullying is and what to do if it happens to them
We encourage parents to be good role models
To stay calm and always be polite
Not to be afraid to defend yourself if you have no choice
To only ever use the minimal amount of force necessary to save yourself from harm
To recognise that just because someone is bullying you, you do not have the right to physically harm them
Not to fall victim to peer pressure and get involved in the bullying of others
And of course, how to control and restrain people who attack them
We also teach children simple things like making sure they know mum and dad's mobile phone number
Stranger Danger
What to do if they are being followed home from school
What to do if they are approached by a stranger
Fire Safety issues are also covered, such as what to do if your house is on fire, what to do if your clothes catch on fire
Our martial arts programs are based on my many years of experience as a police officer and martial artist. Our program covers so much more than just how to kick and punch.
