Kuchi Bushi
Be careful not to be like those who do not train sufficiently yet become “masters” because their talk resemble that of the experts.
From olden times these men/women have been called kuchi bushi (mouth warriors). Even today, these mouth warriors are as common as grains of sand on a beach.
Gichin Funakoshi (1868-1957)
Nowadays many seem to be more interested in obtaining grades than training for the love of their art.
Many train one day a week, yet after getting a black belt in 18 months they are experts in everything.
Kuchi Bushi (mouth warriors) are everywhere nowadays.
There are very few who train everyday year after year. Not for rank but because it is their way of life.
Don’t believe everything thing you read on social media. The best way of dealing with Kuchi Bushi is simply to say to them, “show me, don’t tell me”. Prepare yourself for the excuses as to why they can’t demonstrate right now.
