Kime
If you don’t know what kime is you don’t really know what the physical side of karate is all about.
Kime is an explosive attack to the target using the appropriate technique and maximum power in the shortest time possible.
An old karate expression that is seldom heard these days is ikken hissatsu.
Ikken hissatsu means to kill with one blow.
It would be a mistake to assume that the only objective of karate is to teach people how to kill others with a single blow. This ability requires thousands and thousands of hours of training, which to be frank most people are not willing to do. There is much more to karate do than this.
Kime and ikken hissatsu relate to the physical side of karate.
The spiritual side of karate is arguably even more important than the physical side and is what stops an appropriately trained karate ka from doing things they ought not do
